The goal in this room was to create a family friendly space that doesn't revolve entirely around the television. The family of five needed a new layout that would provide ample seating, hidden toy storage and let their personality & love for their family shine.
A long rectangular area, a lack of open wall space & a nondescript fireplace made this family room feel awkward & unfriendly. We wanted to utilize the entire length of the room, while still reading as one cohesive design.
By adding a bookcase & window benches, we created much needed storage, as well as playful, additional seating. In the bookshelves, styling pieces like candles & mini vases balance out books, while baskets & bowls add more hidden storage. Frames with family photos add that personal touch.
Custom cushions & pillows mix patterns in a light airy palette, along with a custom made oversized ottoman. Perfect for the three children who love to climb.
Building out the mantle offered a place for a mirror and styling pieces to add visual interest & personality, also taking the focus away from the TV.
On the porch, we extended the family feel with a bright palette & large dining area. Cheerful patterned textiles mix together for a welcoming indoor/outdoor design.
